In a joint acquisition process, the Vienna Convention Bureau and the VRVis Center for Virtual Reality and Visualization were able to bring the IEEE Visualization Conference (VIS) to Vienna. More than 1,000 scientists are expected to attend the meeting between 2 and 7 November 2025 at the Austria Center Vienna to discuss the latest research findings in the field of data analysis.

This congress win strengthens Vienna's reputation as a global science and conference location: IEEE VIS 2025 will be held in Europe for only the third time, after Berlin (2018) and Paris (2014).

The world's leading congress in the field of data analysis and visualization is organized by the American IEEE Computer Society, the world's largest association of computer scientists. It is part of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the world's largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. Since 2016, the IEEE has had its European headquarters in Vienna.
