Vienna in 2nd place in the UIA Congress Ranking 2023

The analysis just published by the UIA on international association congresses held worldwide is one of the industry's most important benchmarks alongside the ICCA ranking. In the current UIA ranking, Vienna defends its 2nd place from the previous year with a total of 298 conferences. The list of cities worldwide is headed by Brussels with 620 conferences. Vienna is followed by Tokyo (226), Seoul (200) and Lisbon (147). Places 6 to 10 are occupied by London (139), Paris (124), Madrid (116), Barcelona (115) and Dubai (114).

Vienna Tourist Board CEO Norbert Kettner:
"We are once again delighted with Vienna's recent top ranking in an extremely competitive global environment. Vienna's good performance in second place in the UIA ranking is an achievement that - in the spirit of the visitor economy - is due to the outstanding cooperation of all stakeholders in Vienna's meetings industry, from the convention centers and venues to the hotel industry, agencies and, of course, the clients we were able to attract to Vienna. I would like to thank them all and congratulate our colleagues in Brussels on their 1st place."

Austria climbs to 6th place worldwide

In addition to the city statistics, the UIA congress ranking also provides information on performance at country level. With 367 congresses, Austria takes 6th place in the statistics worldwide, moving up 2 places compared to 2022 (8th place).
Belgium (708) is in first place, followed by the US (633), Japan (488), South Korea (423) and Spain (395). Austria (367), the UK (318), France (312), Italy (310) and Germany (283) complete the top 10 countries.
