Vienna Places 2nd in UIA Ranking
The UIA analysis of globally held international association congresses is one of the most important benchmarks within the meeting industry, alongside the annual ICCA ranking, in which Vienna ranks 1st worldwide. In the recently published UIA ranking, Vienna finds itself placing second worldwide with of a total of 252 congresses hosted, improving by two places compared to 2021 (fourth place).
Brussels tops the list of cities with 570 meetings hosted, and Vienna is followed by Singapore (203), Tokyo (201) and Lisbon (167). Positions six through 10 are occupied by Madrid (153), London (148), Barcelona (147), Seoul (135) and Paris (130). This ranking incorporates not only in-person congresses, but also hybrid and fully virtual meetings held due to the pandemic.
Austria in 8th place Worldwide
In addition to city statistics, the UIA congress ranking also provides information on performance at a country level. Austria is ranked 8th worldwide with 310 congresses hosted, with Belgium in the lead (646), followed by the USA (573), Spain (457), Japan (396), France (345) and the UK (327). South Korea (320), Germany (263) and Italy (261) complete the top 10.
