22 events used the ÖBB Congress Account in the first half of 2025

The Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) introduced the Congress Account in 2023. It allows organizers of congresses and corporate meetings to offer their participants a more affordable and environmentally friendly travel option. Organizers enter into an agreement with ÖBB (cost: €250) and receive an individual registration link and TAN. Participants can then book discounted tickets directly via this link.

2,500 tickets booked - 152 tons of CO₂️ saved

In the first half of 2025, a total of 22 organizers of events taking place in Vienna made use of the ÖBB Congress Account - including major international conferences such as the European Congress of Radiology (ECR), the Annual Meeting of the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA), the 62nd Congress of the European Renal Association (ERA), the Living Planet Symposium of the European Space Agency (ESA LPS) or ViennaUP.
More than 2,500 tickets were booked via the ÖBB Congress Account.

Attendees travelling by train came from countries such as the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Belgium, or Denmark.

Thanks to these climate-friendly rail journeys, a total of 152 tons of CO₂ emissions were saved. This is approximately equivalent to the amount of CO₂ that 6,000 trees absorb annually (based on an average of 25 kg of CO₂ per tree per year, source: EcoTree).
