From breweries to market halls: Vienna venues with culinary heritage

Ottakringer Brewery
Ottakringer Brewery in Vienna's 16th district was founded in 1837 and is still family-owned. The company continues to develop new products, while the brewery grounds have become an established event venue in their own right. Six distinctive spaces, each shaped by a different chapter in the brewery’s history, are available for corporate events, seminars and club nights. The venue is certified with the Austrian Ecolabel and combines flexible spaces with up-to-date event technology.
Meinls Rösthalle
Julius Meinl has been part of Vienna's coffee culture since 1862. In 2018, the traditional brand added an event venue to its industrial site in western Vienna. Located in an enclosed courtyard, Meinl Roasting Hall offers about 1,600 m² of weather-protected outdoor space. The entire site covers approximately 8,000 m², with room for presentations, entertainment and interactive event formats. The venue can accommodate up to 1,000 people, depending on the setup. Guests can create their own coffee blend on site using carefully selected green coffee beans and take it home as a personalized gift.
Ankersaal
Ankersaal occupies part of the former Anker Bread Factory near Vienna Central Station. Its industrial character comes with the event infrastructure needed for a wide range of formats. The adjoining lounge on the upper floor can be used as a VIP area, for smaller premium events or as a private retreat with a terrace and views of Vienna. Excellent acoustics and professional lighting, sound, projection and video systems support individual event setups. A flexible stage system adds further options. Ankersaal can accommodate up to 340 people.
Schlumberger Kellerwelten
Schlumberger, Austria's oldest sparkling wine producer, is headquartered in Vienna's 19th district. The company’s history comes to life in its more than 300-year-old cellar vaults. Guided tours can be included in the event program and offer a look behind the scenes. A seminar room with theater-style seating accommodates up to 60 people. The cozy Gewölbestüberl seats up to 80 guests and is well suited to gala dinners, product presentations and smaller receptions. In summer, a park-like garden adds an outdoor setting for events.
Markterei Markthalle
Every Friday and Saturday, the former hydraulic engineering laboratory near Vienna's Volksoper becomes a market hall. Regional producers showcase seasonal products and share insights into their work. The spaces can also be rented exclusively for private events. They include the former experimental hall, now the market hall, on the ground floor, the workshop on the mezzanine and the charming landscaped courtyard. Markterei Market Hall can host meetings for up to 250 people. Event planners can also book the market setup, complete with a selection of regional producers.
